Abstract:
The talk will focus on several examples of the application of optical diagnostics to aerodynamic and plasma flows. The first part will present an overview of plasma aerodynamic studies at Ohio State University with emphasis on flow control, and Plasma Assisted Combustion, utilizing non-equilibrium high repetition rate (up to 100 kHz), high voltage (~20 kV) - short duration (10-25 nsec), repetitively pulsed discharges.
The second part of the talk will describe recent advances in ultra high (up to one MHz) frame rate imaging, including the development of MHz frame rate Planar Doppler Velocimetry, NO2 Molecular Tagging Velocimetry, and OH and NO Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence imaging. Recent studies of transition and turbulence in the NASA-Langley
